Boldrewood
Boldrewood is a transformative residential interior project that involved a comprehensive internal renovation and simultaneous thermal enhancement of the external fabric of a charming red brick cottage located in the inner north Canberra suburb of Turner.
The project focused on upgrading the thermal efficiency of the home by replacing existing windows and doors with high-performance double glazing, meticulously designed to mirror the original aesthetics. Additionally, insulation was integrated across all planes, coupled with the installation of an energy-efficient reverse cycle ducted air conditioning system to replace the outdated gas system.
These practical interventions have resulted in a remarkably comfortable and livable heritage home, ensuring enduring comfort for the residents and their beloved pets for years to come.

The interiors, after years of wear, were in dire need of revitalisation. Central to the interior design of the cottage is the newly crafted focal point—a serene kitchen and family room space at the rear, offering a tranquil sanctuary amidst bustling lives.
Preserving the original structure, no external walls were relocated, nor was additional floor area added. Instead, a timeless and harmonious integration of a mudroom and kitchen through sympathetic joinery was achieved. Every detail and finish was thoughtfully selected to complement the home’s original era.
The use of reclaimed blackbutt floors from Thors Hammer adds a touch of elegance to the interior palette, effortlessly blending into the existing spaces with quiet confidence.
