Belconnen Townhouse, designed by Sarah Truscott Architect and built by New Spaces, is renovation of a 1970s townhouse located in the Canberra suburb of Belconnen. The thoughtfully reimagined two bedroom home with a full internal and thermal renovation brings new life, comfort, and flexibility to the existing footprint. The project centred on opening up the original kitchen to the main living space to create a light-filled, contemporary home that adapts seamlessly to the daily rhythms of our wonderful client.

A new kitchen forms the heart of the home, designed as a generous and efficient workspace that supports both quiet everyday living and the joy of entertaining a large crowd. The previously separate bathroom and laundry have been combined into a streamlined, functional zone, freeing up valuable space elsewhere in the plan. New flooring, double glazed windows and doors, and comprehensive insulation improvements significantly enhance thermal performance and year-round comfort.

The result is a warm, resilient, and open interior that supports a range of living and working patterns. Carefully considered joinery details featuring the deep green Laminex ‘Otway’, and a restrained, accompanying material palette creates calm, inviting spaces, and the flexible plan offers room to gather, create, relax or retreat.
